This 1981 Renault Hatchback Art Car was painted by artist Alfredo Genovese in Fileteado art work and submitted by Martin. It was on sale for about $6,000 back in 2007 from Argentina, but I don't know now who owns it.via

It was built on the frame of a 1986 Yugo Cabrio with 38k Miles by the owners grandfather after it the body was badly damaged in a freak hailstorm. Grandpa got this crazy idea in his head to turn this thing into a whale car. How weird, you wake up one day and decide to make an art car, you start building, people think you are strange and your whole life makes a turn for the interesting.

Anyways, the WhaleMobile has new tires, working headlights, a lever inside the cockpit controls the whale tail and a working blow hole that shoots water. Perfect for parades and kids parties, not street legal yet but I am sure its sea worthy.

Sentrasaurus Art Car for Sale - Mythical Beast Going Cheap on Ebay

Oh goody, the Sentrasaurus Art Car is now up for sale on eBay for those of you looking for a "Dinosauraus Mosaicus" built on a Nissan Sentra. Richard is trying to unload this mythical beast on the cheap so he can raise money for his next art car project. here is the more on the art car.

Vehicle Description: The Sentra now know as "Sentrasaurus" for it's abstract dinosaur resemblance began it's transformation into an art car in late 2008 for the Houston Art Car Parade which it has since appeared in 2009 and 2010. The exterior consists of a skin made of mosaic stained glass and mirror structures (spikes) creating a spine down the center. The entire vehicle is covered with mosaic glass which is glued on with silicone adhesive and was later grouted to fill in the cracks. The mirror spikes are soldered together and are screwed into the body of the vehicle. The added weight from the extra glass, silicone, grout, and mirrors is unknown although we would probably estimate around 150-200lbs.

Art Car Book by Harrod Blank - A must have for your coffee table

What got me started in the journey with my own art car the Mercedes Pens and now with Art Car Central was a book called "Art Cars: the cars, the artists, the obsession, the craft" by Harrod Blank.I walked into the library one day and was browsing the car section when I came upon the most amazing book I had seen in a long time. In it was filled with images of people who had decorated their cars with paint, glued objects, car modifications and everything in between. Many of those cars have since been featured on Art Car Central like the Fruit Mobile, Hoop Car, Camera Van, The Phone Car, The Button King, Glass Quilt, and many more from Harrods Blanks Art Car Agency.

If you have ever seen an art car around town and wondered why would someone do that to their car. Or where curious about the type of person who would drive an art car, then this book is definitely for you. I now have my own copy and it never gets old. I got an email from Neil Johnston a while back about his Abosulutely Fablon art car in the Ramshackle Rally - Valencia 2009 with a crazy 70's paint job and a working disco ball mounted on the roof that works its best magic at night. Hi art car is 1984 Mercedes 230E W123 which by they way is for sale on ebay right now for only £995.00, if you are feeling that kind of groove.

The Ramshackle rally includes 100 teams on a 1450 mile journey through 5 countries in 4 days, 2 mountain ranges, 1 winner, with 0 common sense! They hopefully end up safe and sound at the Valencia tomato festival were they join 40,000 other tomato throwing participants. They are given challenges on their way in order to get the most points to win some sort of prize.

Flivver the Art Car is a 1987 Toyota Tercel that Joy Johnston got for free back in 2004. This is her third art car and is out of commission. After October Flivver will rest at East Jesus, Slab City, near Niland, CA where she will be converted to a permanent camper sculpture at Charlie's compound. In addtion to her art car, Joy also loves to create custom crocheted hats of pure joy. During one Art Car Fest event she, along with the bay area art car girls made fleece hats for every one and I still wear mine every day, mmmmm so warm.

The Excto-1 is a 1959 Cadillac Miller-Meteor ambulance limo that was transformed by Universal Studios seen in the Ghostbusters movie.
